Seventy Years on the Same Loom

Shades of Banaras began as one family's handloom in Varanasi in 1956. What has changed since is the world we reach — not the way we weave.

The First Loom

In a narrow lane of Varanasi, our family set up its first handloom — pure silk, real zari, and patience measured in weeks, not days.

Three Generations

A Craft Inherited

Kadhwa, Minakari, Tanchui — the techniques passed from hand to hand, refined but never rushed, each generation adding its own quiet mastery.
